This is in no way a sponsored post; I have not been asked to write it, we paid full price for our holiday. I just wanted to share our experience on here for others who may be interested.
I’ve had a number of friends commenting on how expensive UK holidays are, and previously I had commented similar. The caravans at Park Dean on Hayling Island are so reasonable. They’re very basic and pretty small. We foolishly booked a two bed/ 6 sleeper for 4 adults and 2 children and came to wish we had booked a three bed – the rooms are VERY compact and there was no way to fit a travel cot next to a bed. They also come with nothing included; we forgot things like washing up liquid! However, they were really clean and were a great “base” for our holiday as we literally only used them for sleeping.
The campsite had the usual cheesy activities that you’d expect from a holiday of this type – all included within the caravan rates. There’s an indoor and outdoor pool, a park, and a little softplay. Kids activities on in the day, adults things like karaoke in the evening.
The beach is a 20 minute walk away and it’s beautiful. There are a number of spots to go, and you can even find some sand! We had the best time and we stayed late both nights, even watching the sunset one evening. Although the fish and chip shop shut at 8:30 so we missed tea!!
A 10 minute drive in the opposite direction there is a bridge (which takes you onto the island) with a tiny harbour type area that we went crabbing at one afternoon. It had a pub called The Ship Inn. We did have some lunch there, and weren’t blown away by it – but this is a good point of reference if you wanted to come crabbing / go for a wander.
I found being by the seaside so good for the soul! We picked a great weekend, and it was so gloriously sunny that it did feel like we were abroad. So, I must admit, I perhaps wouldn’t have thought so fondly of the destination if it was miserable!
